These Terms of Use apply when you access WhatIsMyIP-Address.net or use its IP, network, DNS, RDAP, browser, and privacy tools. By using the site, you agree to use the information and tools in a lawful, responsible way and subject to the limits described here.

Informational and diagnostic use

The site provides informational and troubleshooting output. It can help you inspect a public IP address, a broad location estimate, DNS information, public registration data, and selected network or browser signals. It is not a substitute for professional security, legal, network-administration, or privacy advice. Do not make a high-impact decision about a person, network, or service solely from a result on this site.

Accuracy and result limitations

IP geolocation is approximate and can be wrong. It may describe an ISP gateway, mobile carrier, corporate network, VPN exit point, or a provider's registration data rather than the location of a person or device. ASN and network ownership information can change as address ranges are transferred or providers update their records. DNS and RDAP responses can be stale, incomplete, redacted, rate-limited, or unavailable.

VPN, proxy, Tor, hosting, and similar classifications depend on the available provider intelligence. A positive result can indicate a provider-recognized signal; a negative result is not a universal proof that a technology is absent. A result of “Unable to determine” means that the site did not have sufficient information to make a reliable statement. Browser tests also depend on browser settings, permissions, extensions, network configuration, and the browser's current behavior.

Permitted use

You may use the site for normal personal, educational, troubleshooting, administrative, and research purposes. For example, you may check your own public IP, investigate a domain you manage, compare a VPN connection before and after connecting, or look up public DNS or RDAP information. If you query an address or domain associated with someone else, you remain responsible for ensuring that your purpose and use are lawful and appropriate.

Prohibited use

Do not use the service to harass, stalk, threaten, or target people. Do not use it for malicious scanning, to attempt access to private or internal infrastructure, to probe systems without authorization, or to support unlawful activity. You must not make excessive automated requests, interfere with the site, attempt to bypass rate limits or security controls, reverse engineer protected service components, or use the site in a way that degrades availability for others. These terms do not claim that every prohibited action is technically prevented; they set the required standard of use.

Availability and third-party services

The site and individual tools may be changed, limited, rate-limited, unavailable, or discontinued without notice. Some outputs depend on third-party data providers, DNS resolvers, public registries, browsers, and hosting services. Their availability and data quality are outside the site's control. A failed request or incomplete result does not mean that the underlying network, domain, or privacy technology is absent.

Links to external websites are provided for convenience or context. They may include affiliate links in the future, which could result in a commission when an eligible purchase is made. That does not state that any current partnership exists. External sites have their own terms and privacy policies, and you use them at your own discretion.

Using results responsibly

Treat a result as one technical input, then verify important information with the relevant network operator, registry, service provider, or system owner. In particular, do not use an approximate IP location to infer a person's home, workplace, identity, or intent. Do not treat a network classification as an accusation of wrongdoing. An address may be shared, reassigned, routed through a carrier or enterprise gateway, or represented differently by different data sources.

If you administer a system, follow your organization's policies and obtain authorization before using any diagnostic information to investigate a network. The site does not grant permission to access a host, contact an address holder, or perform any activity beyond the ordinary public lookup that a page provides. The same restraint is appropriate when reading public registration data: availability does not remove the need to respect privacy, law, and acceptable-use requirements.

The site's guides can explain common terms, but they do not change these limits or provide authorization for a particular investigation. When a result conflicts with the configuration or records you control, prefer a direct check in that environment over repeated public lookups. That approach is usually more accurate and avoids unnecessary requests to shared public infrastructure.

Content and intellectual property

The site's original content, branding, and presentation are protected as applicable. You may quote or share a reasonable portion with appropriate context, but you may not reproduce the site wholesale or misrepresent it as your own. Public DNS and RDAP data, provider data, browser-reported values, and third-party marks remain subject to the rights and policies of their respective owners. These terms do not claim ownership of third-party data.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided on an “as available” basis. No guarantee is made that a result is accurate, complete, current, suitable for a particular purpose, secure, or continuously available. To the extent allowed by applicable law, the site owner is not liable for losses arising from reliance on a result, use of the service, third-party services, or interruptions in availability. This restrained limitation does not exclude responsibilities that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
