IPv6 Leak Test

Check whether a dedicated IPv6 endpoint can observe an IPv6 connection from this browser.

Run this check to review information available from your current connection.

What this result means

IPv6 connectivity is normal. This check reports what it observes without treating ordinary IPv6 use as a privacy leak.

How this check works

The browser first reads the IP family observed by the normal site request, then asks a separate IPv6-only endpoint to report the address it observed. A returned IPv6 address confirms that this browser reached that endpoint over IPv6.

Seeing IPv6 is not automatically a leak. IPv6 becomes relevant when you expect a VPN to block or tunnel it. This test cannot prove tunnel routing, identify a VPN, or establish that a provider misconfigured your connection.

Using a VPN? A single test cannot conclusively determine an IPv6 leak because it does not know your pre-VPN IPv6 identity or the VPN's intended IPv6 behavior.

What to do next

If you use a VPN, compare its documented IPv6 behavior with your expectations for that connection.
