This policy explains the information WhatIsMyIP-Address.net may process when you visit the site or use its IP, network, DNS, and privacy tools. It describes the current V1 service in practical terms. It is not a promise that an IP address identifies a person or reveals an exact physical location: it does neither on its own.

Information processed when you use the site

To provide a connection result, the site may process the public IP address associated with a request. If you choose to submit a public IP address, domain, or hostname to a tool, that submitted value is processed to perform the requested lookup. DNS, reverse-DNS, and RDAP tools also process the query needed to retrieve the relevant public record or response.

Some diagnostics use information exposed by your own browser. For example, Browser Information can read browser-reported values, and a WebRTC test can inspect connection candidates the browser makes available to the page. Those tests have a limited scope and do not give the site a complete view of your device or network. Technical request metadata, such as headers needed to deliver and secure a web request, may also be processed by the application and its hosting infrastructure.

A public IP address can be associated with a network or a broad geographic estimate. It is not an exact street address, and the site does not claim to know your real-world identity from an IP address alone.

Why this information is processed

The service processes these values to provide the result you asked for: IP and network lookup results, DNS or RDAP checks, browser and privacy diagnostics, and related troubleshooting guidance. Request information may also be used by the application or infrastructure to operate the service, protect it from abuse, diagnose errors, and maintain reliability. The site is not designed to build a personal profile from lookup activity.

Third-party infrastructure and data sources

A requested result may rely on third-party infrastructure, public registries, or data services. Depending on the tool and configuration, these can include IPinfo, ipapi.is, Cloudflare DNS over HTTPS, RDAP registries, and Vercel hosting infrastructure. Cloudflare may also be used when it is part of the production delivery setup. These services process only the request information needed for the relevant lookup or delivery function; not every visit or tool request is sent to every provider.

Each provider operates under its own privacy practices and retention rules. This site does not expose provider credentials or internal request details in public results. Public RDAP records and DNS responses may themselves contain information published by registries or domain operators; the site displays such information only to answer the query you request.

Cookies, browser storage, and analytics

The current application does not use local or session storage for saved reports or preferences. Hosting, security, and future integrations may use technical cookies or similar mechanisms as part of delivering a secure web service. Avoid assuming a browser is completely cookie-free solely because this application does not store a preference locally.

Google Analytics is not configured in the current application. Analytics may be added in a future version, in which case this policy should be updated to describe the service and the choices available to visitors. No claim is made here that every hosting or third-party service is analytics-free.

Affiliate and external links

The site may include affiliate links in the future and may earn a commission when a visitor purchases through an eligible link. That possibility does not mean that a current affiliate relationship exists. External websites control their own content, cookies, terms, and privacy practices, so review their policies before providing information or making a purchase.

Retention and security

Lookup values are used transiently to return a result. The application may temporarily cache data to improve reliability and reduce repeat provider requests. Infrastructure and providers may keep server, security, or operational logs under their own policies; this site does not state a fixed retention period for systems it does not control. Information held in your browser remains on your device unless your browser, an extension, or another service handles it separately.

Reasonable technical measures are used to operate the service and limit unnecessary exposure, including keeping provider credentials out of client-facing responses. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Do not submit passwords, account credentials, private keys, or confidential internal network details to a public lookup tool.

Your choices when using a lookup

You can choose whether to enter a public IP address, domain, or hostname into a tool. Before submitting a value that relates to an organization, customer, or another person, make sure you are permitted to use it for the intended purpose. Browser-based diagnostics run only when you open the relevant page and start the check; they do not create an ongoing monitor of your connection after you leave the page.

Your browser can also control general web capabilities such as stored site data, extensions, DNS preferences, and location permissions. Those settings may affect a diagnostic's result but are not controlled by this site. If you use a shared device or network, consider using normal browser controls to clear local site data and protect your account sessions.

Children, rights, and policy updates

The service is intended for general audiences and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents and guardians should supervise a child's use of online tools as appropriate. Privacy rights can depend on where you live and the circumstances of processing. This page does not claim compliance with a particular privacy law or create a process that has not been implemented. When a public contact method is available, visitors may use it to raise privacy questions or requests.
